What makes the chaos module different?
⚠️ Team monitor
Chaos handoff board
Keep one current state for alarm, pressure, and slider instead of mixing old callouts.
One current observation is ready for the interpreter.
⚠️ Recovery cue: name the active hazard → 🛑 pause extra inputs → 🔁 reread the current state → ✅ resume.
Several signals can change at once, so keep the caller focused on one state: slider position, pressure or alarm status, then the requested action. Ask other players to hold observations until the caller finishes.
How should a team recover?
Record the warning, stop unnecessary inputs, and reread the panel after the environment settles. Then return to the puzzle index.
How should a team handle simultaneous warnings?
Create one short status line with the slider position, pressure state, and alarm state. The caller chooses one field to resolve first and asks the observer to hold all other observations until that action is confirmed. This prevents the team from switching between three warnings and losing the original state.
What is the safest order for a chaos callout?
Use the same order every time: module name, active warning, slider or control position, requested action, and confirmation. A complete callout sounds like: “Chaos module; alarm active; slider is near the middle; waiting for the next instruction.” Only after the interpreter repeats that line should the operator move the control.
What should be written down?
Keep a small state table rather than a sentence that mixes old and new information.
| Field | Current value | Update rule |
|---|---|---|
| Warning | Alarm / pressure / none | Replace when the visual or audio state changes |
| Slider | Left / middle / right or visible position | Record before and after every move |
| Action | Waiting / move / confirm | Clear after the module accepts it |
If an environmental distraction interrupts the callout, discard the spoken shorthand and reread the panel. The goal is to restore one current state, not to remember every warning that appeared earlier.
How does chaos differ from a normal module?
The difficulty is coordination rather than a separate “best guess.” Several pieces of information can change close together, so the team must separate observation from action. Use the roles guide for the caller rule and the puzzle index when the panel no longer matches the expected module.

How to read a Chaos panel
Chaos modules are interruptions that remain active while the bomb is being defused. Pressure, Slider, and Alarm need a monitor and short state calls; they are not normal panels that become permanently finished after one input. If the state becomes urgent, pause the current normal module, make the correction, and report when the panel is stable.
Practice order
Start with Pressure, then Slider, and finally Alarm. Use Level Lookup to see when their load increases in the campaign, and Endless Mode to understand why time and strikes matter.
